The Society of Mountains Painters has the role to promote the quality and diversity of visual works inspired by the mountains.

SPM currently has fifty artists from different geographical origins. The artists use varied techniques and belong to different schools: majority are traditional landscape realists and impressionists, whereas few are rather inspired by the new artistic trends.
